United Kingdom

PartⅡ. Visit to the University of Cambridge

Gwangju Jeil High School, Im Jinwoo

'Cambridge Members ~' This is a familiar comment. No one knows the University of Cambridge. This is because it is a prestigious university located in Cambridge, England.

Since its inception in 1209, it is one of the oldest universities in the English-speaking world, dating back over 1000 years and is recognized as one of the top English universities. Best of all, the university has produced more than 100 Nobel Prize winners among universities around the world.

In August 2018, our hotel was in London, where we went to King's Cross Station and arrived at Cambridge University in 50 minutes by train. I got off the train and walked for about 15 minutes to get to Cambridge University. In fact, there was no guide, so my mom and I were looking at the map. As I walked, Suddenly, a foreigner brought a coated paper and popped out a paper with a picture of the boat. Yes. That's the famous punting tour. This tour takes you by boat to Cambridge. My mom and I did not have a guide, so I decided to take a punting tour.

The punting guide stirs hard and explained the buildings and backgrounds in English. Of course not all understood, but we learned about the Bridge of Mathematics, the King's College Chapel, the Rennes Library, and the Bridge of Sighs.

Also, I was amazing in that Cambridge University was the university where Newton studied, who discovered the law of gravity. Looking at the University of Cambridge, I made me think more about the university's traditions and its academic depth than about the facade of an old-fashioned building.

At this point, the Bridge of Sights was seen. When the students crossed the bridge and sighed while going for a test, the bridge was named Bridge of Sighs. But this name was also heard on the Oxford University Tour.

No matter how many students go to prestigious universities, I felt that I have all the stress of studying.

I felt that the traditional, formal atmosphere of England and the traditional and academic enthusiasm of the University of Cambridge became more and more recognized through this trip. I decided once more that I should not be wasting my time and trying to sell my life goals.
